Cognitive Restructuring
I think one of the best ways to explain positive psychology is this video from Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLJsdqxnZb0
We watched this TED Talk in class when discussing how your view on a situation is ultimately what determines your health, not the situation itself (in most everyday cases). The speaker in this video, Shawn Achor, is hilarious and really puts things in perspective. If you have 12 minutes to spare, please watch and enjoy this video. Maybe it can change your life.
Another great youtube video speech is by Kelly McGonigal on how we perceive stressful situations. You can view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcGyVTAoXEU This 14.5 minute video is surprising and life changing. It is AMAZING to think that people can actually train not only their brain, but their body to respond to stress in different ways. Why not try and be more optimistic in the ways we view stress? Our body's response can actually help us overcome any obstacle, if we don't view the response as a threat in itself!
