Social & Familial Wellness (Relationship Wellness)
What is love? How is friendship different from love? What are the different types of relationships?
Robert Sternberg's Triangular Theory of Love, shows the different types of relationships you can have with others.
Friends, pets, and family are often represented by compassionate love since there is a commitment involved and you often like the person (or animal) but feel no passion for them.
Ideally, the relationship with your significant other will have balance between intimacy, commitment, and passion which creates the ultimate form of love: consummate love.
Sometimes, people rush into a marriage or another commitment just because there is so much passion which is called fatuous love. There is no time for the liking or intimate part to develop.
Sometimes, there is lots of liking and passion in a relationship, but either one or both parties do not want to commit to the relationship. This would be romantic love.

Family is not only about loving each other, it is also about supporting, caring, and being tolerant of each other. For some people this comes naturally, but in most relationships it grows and changes as we do as people. Having someone who is there to listen to you and who cares about you can be an important aspect to your own health and well being. Remember how wonderful it is for you to be loved and supported and try to pay it forward with a kind word or compliment, because it is good for their health too.
