Mindfulness
How often are you in the present moment? A moment when you are fully aware of what is going on around you. You are conscious of each breath, each sound, and smell. Are you mindful of the things you eat? Where are your thoughts when you are brushing your teeth? Most people do so many actions throughout the day and don't even realize where their day rushed off to. Instead of thinking about the present moment people are worrying about the little tasks and chores that need to get done for the day. They worry about the future, which in turn robs them of living the present.
How do you get out of the habit of worrying about the future and become more mindful of the present? I would recommend starting with deep breathing. Focusing on your breath is immensely focusing and centering. It can clear your mind and relax your body. A few deep breaths during the day can be surprisingly powerful. I would also recommend being conscious of the foods you eat. If you pay attention to every single m&m you eat, and savour each one, you will feel satisfied sooner and therefore eat less. Better things can include yoga or meditation. Those things force you to concentrate on the here and now.
